Confidently Caitlin
Passions/dreams that I have:
1) Ice Hockey: This year I need to buckle down and actually join a team. I really miss playing and this would take a day or two of going to the gym weekly off of my list… BONUS!
2) Reading: I really love to read and learn new things. This one is two-fold a) join/start a book club (monthly) and b) start reading the news and education related texts.
3) Traveling: This next year I would like to visit Washington D.C. even if it is by myself. Smithsonian…here I come!
4) Education: finish my degree. This NEEDS to be completed by the end of the year or I will be disappointed and frustrated with myself. It should have already been done in May.
5) Eco-Friendly: We all know that it is important to be kind to the environment. Now is a good time to re-evaluate myself and the footprint that I leave upon this planet.
More to come…
I am currently reading the Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and her project has given me an outlet for the inspirational moment I recently had at a Dunkin Donuts with my new friend Cory. I am newly 24 and would like to improve the overall quality of my life before I close the door on the first quarter-century of my life. Whether this be health, wealth, knowledge, friendship, traveling, or love, it all comes back to happiness. Gretchen Rubin embarked upon a journey which allowed her to truly improve the way she was living without changing her “life” (if that makes sense). It is about being happy in the present moment and making the most of every situation that is afforded to you. I would like to truly turn over a new leaf and set the stage for a healthy, happy and fulfilling rest of my life.
Pulling at the heartstrings.
Dear Scarlet,
Remember when the nurses first put you on my chest and you looked up at me with those same eyes, like you’d known me forever? Remember how I looked down at you and then up at your dad and just said, “I love her,” and I did. I’ve never stopped. It’s a love that we’ve nurtured and felt grow, year after year, minute after minute. It’s a love that doesn’t complicate things, a love I don’t have to justify or work for. It’s simply present and budding and magnificent. It’s a garden that’s spring all year round. It’s a record that never stops singing. I knew that I was pregnant with you immediately. I felt plural one day and never stopped. You’re like the baby kangaroo in my pouch. We are one. You are the very best thing that has ever happened to me. Growing old with you is the greatest privilege I’ve been granted. I hope you always know that I’ll try to do my best by you. I know that I haven’t been perfect. I may be the queen of giving up, but I will never ever give up on you. I love you, Scarfish. Way way more than you know.
I cannot wait for this movie to come out.
Self-sabotage…oh why am I so good at this?
Dear Scarlet,
Here you are last night singing Joni Mitchell’s All I Want.
What an adorable little girl. Such spunk. I have really enjoyed reading the heartfelt letters these parents write to their girl Scarlet.
